In 2016 Rev Malcolm Gordon, the Worship, Music and Arts Enabler for the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand was commissioned to write a song in celebration of the centenaries of a number of our Presbyterian Schools in New Zealand.
The resulting song Pioneers of Hope is now being sung by our Presbyterian schools around New Zealand, as well as the wider Presbyterian church.
Lyrics and the sheet music of the song can be found here and the full choral version here .
You can view the video of the ‘pop anthem’ version of the song here and listen to the audio version here. The song was recorded by representatives of many of our schools at Scots College, Wellington on September 22nd 2016, with additional input by students at Columba College Dunedin at a later date. The backing track was provided by students of Saint Kentigern College, Auckland.
Listen to the ‘choral version’ of the song, also recorded by the gathered schools’ choir, here.
